Ricki “Ricasso” Nelson is an award-winning filmmaker and writer with Southern roots. A military brat born in Virginia and raised in North Carolina, she’s a graduate of UNC Wilmington’s Film Studies and Creative Writing programs—but a lifelong student of the game. After graduating, she worked in various roles across the film industry. A genre-agnostic writer, Ricki is drawn to character-driven narratives that explore complicated women and small towns with big secrets, much like her own hometown. Now a recent New York transplant, Ricki is the founder of Black Creatives Social Club, an organization that brings together creatives in film and media.
