Lauren Hogan is a 24 year old screenwriter and director based in Chicago. She’s currently finishing her MFA in film and television directing. Her work often centers around Afro-surrealist genres, prioritizing character-driven stories and world building that reflects her characters’ quiet introspection. Lauren’s stories start the hard conversations, they often spotlight tense themes surrounding mental health and repressed feelings in order to forge a mindset of empathy within her audience. Her backgrounds in cinematography and editing contribute to her unique ways of storytelling through visuals, rhythm through music, and pacing. Lauren hopes tell stories that live outside the status quo not just to entertain but to encourage audiences to look deeper within themselves and further examine their perspectives on the world.
