I’m Alaa Nasser, a 24-year-old Egyptian filmmaker and media graduate from Cairo University. I began my filmmaking journey in 2023 with a short film about female circumcision, which won Best Film at the Aswan Women’s Film Festival and was screened in several festivals. I also explored photography, volunteering as a stage photographer at the American University in Cairo and the Higher Institute of Cinema. In 2024, my graduation project—a music video for singer Yasmin Ali and an awareness campaign on scientific research—earned me an Excellence Award. I took part in a cultural exchange program in Romania and attended screenwriting workshops with professional filmmakers. I’m currently writing my first feature film Ashry, a love story exploring Nubian traditions. To support it, I created a documentary titled The Scent of Felicity. I dream of global recognition in filmmaking.
