I Am Not Your Black Girl is a poignant visual embodiment of a poem by the same name, reclaiming the identity of one Black woman against societal impositions. Through striking imagery and poetic narration, it challenges societal impositions while celebrating self-determination and individuality.

Ricki Nelson is a multi-hyphenate creative, expressing her artistic vision through filmmaking, writing, acting, poetry, and content creation. A proud graduate of UNC Wilmington’s Film Studies & Creative Writing Program, Ricki's industry passion led her to intern at Viola Davis and Julius Tennon’s company, JuVee Productions. At UNCW, she earned recognition with the Frank Capra Jr. Scholarship and Excellence in Film Production Award.
