synopsis

In 1904, the genocide of the Herero and Nama by the German colonial power in South West Africa began.
Hinavandu, a young Herero, finds herself in a collection center after fleeing the genocide. There the fugitives celebrate the end of the war and wait for the day when the Germans will pick them up and bring them back to their villages. Hinavandu dares to hope again. But on the day of her departure, she realizes that they will not be brought home.The characters were played by descendants of contemporary witnesses and non professional
actors.

Nandi_Nastasja

Born in 1997 in Mönchengladbach, Germany, she graduated in 2024 with a BA in directing from Ludwigsburg. She received a scholarship from the Namibia Initiative of the Ministry of Science and Culture Baden-Württemberg and, with her team, produced the short film "Stray Flower", which premiered at the 44th Max Ophüls Film Festival. Her play "Growth“, developed in collaboration with author Lili Roesing, premiered at the Landestheater Schwaben during the 2022/23 season. Her graduation film "Cherry On Top" had its world premiere at the 42nd Torino Film Festival. She lives and works in Berlin.
