BBFF on FOX News | Black and Brown Femme Film Festival 2025
BBFF ON FOX 32
BBFF on FOX 32 Chicago
BBFF on FOX News! On July 9th, Vici Howard, founder of the Black and Brown Femme Film Festival (BBFF), and host Juju Minxxx appeared live on FOX 32 Chicago to speak about the upcoming festival and the growing platform behind it.
Watch the full segment It was a short segment — just a few minutes on live TV. But even with limited time, it meant something. For a grassroots platform like BBFF to be featured on a major network isn’t just exposure — it’s a reminder that the work we’ve been doing is breaking through.
And while there wasn’t time to say everything, the moment carried weight. It put BBFF in front of people who may have never heard of us, and signaled what we’ve known all along: that there’s an audience, a need, and a growing momentum behind this kind of work.
We didn’t build BBFF for the spotlight — but now that it’s on us, we’re going to use it.
BBFF 2025: A Festival That Hits Different
This year’s film festival is happening over two days on the South Side of Chicago, and it’s set to be our biggest yet.
Logan Center for the Arts
915 E. 60th St., Chicago, IL Friday, July 25 | 4:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Saturday, July 26 | 1:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Expect powerful films by femme filmmakers of color, community conversations, live performances, and the kind of atmosphere that feels more like a gathering than a formal event. It’s not about prestige — it’s about presence. It’s about showing up, sharing stories, and making real connections.
We’ve Been Moving — And We’re Still Building
The FOX 32 appearance might be new, but BBFF has been showing up for a while now.
In the last year alone, we’ve hosted a Spring Poetry Festival, giving local voices a stage to speak their truth, and The Vibe, our immersive pop-up museum that celebrated women of color through fashion, music, art, and storytelling. These aren’t side events — they’re part of a broader movement that’s rooted in community and built with intention.
And we’re not stopping at one city.
We’re aiming to grow BBFF into a year-round experience — and eventually into chapters around the country, and even internationally.
Global Films, Global Reach
BBFF already receives film submissions from across the globe — from Kenya to Brazil, from France to the Philippines. What ties them together is a shared experience: femmes telling their stories with honesty, style, and depth.
We want to bring these voices to the forefront — not just for a weekend, but on demand. That’s why we’re building a streaming platform that will host BBFF films from anywhere with an internet connection.
It’s launching soon, and we want our community to be the first in the door. Sign up for updates and early access so you don’t miss it.
Support the Mission
None of this happens without support.
Putting on events, compensating artists, building digital infrastructure — it all takes resources. If you believe in what BBFF is doing, or want to see more spaces like this thrive, we invite you to donate.
