01 Our mission
At Black & Brown Femme Films (BBFF), we champion underrepresented voices in cinema—particularly Black, Brown, and women-identifying creators—by removing financial barriers and providing an inclusive platform. We believe storytelling has the power to shape culture and spark social change.
02 Our Impact
Since launching in 2023, BBFF has received 1,397 film submissions, making it the first free festival dedicated to uplifting Black and Brown women in cinema. We’re on track to exceed 2,000 submissions by BBFF ’25, reflecting a growing demand for diverse storytelling. Our partnership with the Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago continues to provide essential resources, ensuring marginalized creators reach broader audiences.
03 Our Future
By 2025, we aim to amplify the voices of filmmakers and artists through annual events, including:
- The Black & Brown Femme Film Festival.
- The Poetry Film Festival, celebrating the fusion of spoken word and visual storytelling.
- Vibe: An Exhibition Celebrating Women of Color Pop-Up Museum.
04 OUR INITIATIVES
Our key initiative is Going Global. By 2026, we’ll launch two traveling events—taking our Vibe exhibition on the road and collaborating with film festivals worldwide. BBFF is too big to be confined to one place, and we’re dedicated to championing inclusive filmmaking on a global scale.
