Black & Brown Femme Film Festival 2025

July 25–26, 2025

Logan Center for the Arts
915 E. 60th Street, Chicago, Illinois

Presented by Black & Brown Femme Films

The Black & Brown Femme Film Festival 2025 transformed Chicago’s Logan Center for the Arts into a powerful two-day celebration of storytelling, artistry, and community.

Filmmakers, artists, industry professionals, and audiences came together to experience the extraordinary vision and resilience of Black and Brown femme filmmakers from Chicago and around the world.

On the Screen

Forty-Four Films and a Global Community

The festival presented 44 films spanning intimate documentaries, bold dramas, animation, comedy, horror, and experimental storytelling. Together, the films formed a vibrant tapestry of perspectives that challenged assumptions, inspired audiences, and illuminated experiences too often overlooked in mainstream cinema.

Each screening created an opportunity for discovery and connection. Stories about identity, family, resilience, culture, gender, and belonging moved beyond the screen and became part of conversations shared throughout the weekend.

Beyond the Screen

A Gathering of Voices and Vision

BBFF 2025 extended beyond film screenings with programs that encouraged learning, creative exchange, and genuine community connection.

Industry Conversations

Filmmakers and industry professionals joined conversations exploring independent producing, self-distribution, and community-centered storytelling.

Creative Connection

Meet-and-greets, vendor and art spaces, and informal conversations connected filmmakers with audiences, artists, curators, and community organizers.

BBFF After Dark

The festival’s special evening program created space for mature films, candid discussion, and stories that invited audiences into deeper reflection.

Community at the Core

More Than a Film Festival

The energy of BBFF 2025 was felt in packed screening rooms, animated intermissions, and the excitement of artists meeting their audiences. Every question, laugh, conversation, and burst of applause reinforced the importance of centering women of color in cinema.

Filmmakers and attendees did more than watch films together. They exchanged ideas, shared experiences, formed relationships, and transformed individual screenings into collective experiences.

The festival was made possible by its filmmakers, supporters, partners, volunteers, vendors, and audience members. Their presence created the welcoming and community-centered atmosphere that continues to define BBFF.
