The Black & Brown Femme Film Festival 2024 brought filmmakers and audiences together for a day of global cinema, cultural connection, and community at Chicago’s Logan Center for the Arts.
The second annual festival featured 22 films from around the world, including work from five Chicago filmmakers. Through domestic and international short films, BBFF created a platform for stories shaped by the lives, imaginations, and experiences of Black and Brown femme communities.
On the Screen
Global Stories with Local Roots
The festival’s 22-film program brought together perspectives from Chicago and communities around the world. Each selection expanded what audiences could encounter on screen while placing underrepresented filmmakers and stories at the center of the experience.
Together, the films offered a cultural journey through the lives and stories of Black and Brown women-identifying communities, creating opportunities for recognition, discovery, and connection.

Why BBFF Matters
Creating Space for Stories Too Often Overlooked
The 2024 festival reflected BBFF’s inclusive, submission-free model—reducing barriers for femme filmmakers of color while giving their work a meaningful theatrical platform.
More than a collection of screenings, the festival created a supportive space where filmmakers could share their work, audiences could encounter new perspectives, and community could form through cinema.
